City of the Dead - Graveyard Tours
Explore Edinburgh's sinister closes, Greyfriars Kirkyard, and the Black Mausoleum on the City of the Dead Graveyard Tours.
Tour Times: The tours run at 8:30pm, 9:15pm and 10pm, every night.
Location: Tours depart from St Giles Cathedral near the Mercat Cross, on Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
Duration: Approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Route: Leaves the Royal Mile and winds through the sinister, dark 'closes' of Edinburgh's historic Old Town and into Greyfriar's Graveyard. It then enters the permanently locked Covenanters Prison which contains the Black Mausoleum - site of the famous MacKenzie Poltergeist. These tours are the only possible access to the area.
Be warned! The tours are at night, the McKenzie Poltergeist is real and, once you are in the Black Mausoleum, it all gets very scary indeed. Please also note that these tours are really not suitable for young children.
